The Grumach Collection documents the lives of several individuals and familiesincluding the Cahn Family, Flora and Olga Glaser, the Josephsohn-Grodzin-Baumann Family, Max Laboschin, Jakob May and Esther Dornitzka. The bulk ofthe records are correspondence regarding the financial and legal affairs of Felix and Nathan Josephsohn as well as Arthur and Günther Grodzin andJakob May. Also included are general correspondence concerning immigration matters, personal papers, academic records and real estaterecords.

The Jewish educator and writer Meier Spanier was born in Wunstorf, Lower Saxony in 1864. 1900-1911 he was headmaster of the Jewish teachers seminary in Muenster, before moving to Berlin, where he was the director of a Jewish girls’ school. In 1942 he committed suicide to escape deportation. Meier Spanier had one son, the dentist Hans Lothar Spanier.
